You're right Chuck. This past week has taught me that as well. I need to be prepared when it comes to emergencies whether I live in a city or not.

I myself may acquire or look into a 1-2kw generator, enough to power portable heaters or anything small. The limit for the association is 4kW (need to verify) so I might as well go and get a 4kW generator if the price difference is negligible.

In the end, I know I whined, I guess I figured that living in the city a pro would be stable utilities such as power, water, sewage and living out in rural areas, like Arlington, its a risk and utilities can be less dependable but I guess I was wrong on that one (well at least for my grid :-)).

I know we have some natural things and cities farther away from Seattle such as North Bend or Fall City can expect a power outage

...or Arlington.

Whiner. ;)

Welcome to my world. My next project is to acquire a Listeroid low-speed Diesel engine and a 15KW generator. I already have the (free) fuel source, so this is the logical next step. One of these days, we're going to experience a HUGE earthquake and large parts of the region will be off-grid for WEEKS afterwards. be prepared.
