you mentioned that the processor is not soldered to the motherboard, so i was wondering which processors, if any can be swapped into the intel imac. thanks.

The article is incorrect. The back end of the Intel iMac is not user servicable. The RAM SODIMMS are installed through a removable panel on the bottom of the iMac. Note that this is also the same design as the recent iSight-equipped iMac G5. Only the original iMac G5 had the removeable back panel with user-servicable parts.

if you read the article he said (in bold) "Keep in mind that these pictures are from the front end of the unit, not from the back end (User Serviceable section), thus it looks kind of… ugly."

Can you no longer access the back of the unit? You actually have to do a full tear-down to get to stuff?

If so, this is a HUGE step backward in terms of user-servicability.

Where does the RAM go? ...and does it really use SO-DIMMS?

So many questions...

Looking forward to somebody trying to create a GPT partition and doing an XP Pro x64 install on it to see if it works (fingers crossed). Since the iMacs use EFI for booting, this seems to be the only option.
