Microsoft drops IE for Mac
On digg.com
Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple’s Safari.
One word, finally. Microsoft stopped developing IE for Mac back in 2003. I was wondering when they were going to remove the links and deny its existence. A little history for those that don’t know. Internet Explorer for Mac was actively being developed by Microsoft (they even had a 6.0 in the works) until Apple came out with Safari. Microsoft got pissed and stopped the IE project (thank god too!). Hopefully this will also stop the reliance that some companies still have on IE for Mac (for example the Comcast CD when you sign up requires you to have IE for Mac or it just will not install what so ever).
This is definitely a good celebration heading into 2006.
