The ins and outs of Yvo’s life.

Interesting subject title… right? Well I think so to say the least.
What has been new in the boring life of ol’ Yvo. Welp a few things actually. First and foremost Cam right now is finally seeing her friend in San Antonio. I am glad that she is having a fun time, plus she got to fly in an airplane for the first time. Since I have already logged 400 some odd hours of flying in my 20 years of life, I need to have Cam log some hours. Well yesterday her flight got delayed twice, because Atlanta was behind a few hours. Guess that happens when the world’s busiest airport falls behind.
Anywho… work is doing good. Finally starting to realize why Anna complains so much and why Alexi left. They really do give you a lot of responsibilities for the pay. I have been considering switching jobs because I keep getting phone calls for interviews and most of the time full time help desk jobs pay more. Maybe EDI will consider paying me more but I highly doubt it. People in the warehouse tell me that I can do better and I don’t know… but that gives me encouragement. So who knows.
I am finally planning to move out this summer. It is a for sure thing. Hopefully Cammy will move out with me into our own apartment. She has to earn a little bit more though (and work a little bit more hours, like 30+) and we should be plenty of fine financially.
Last but not least… I am finally getting an Apple by the end of next week. Took me awhile but yeah I am getting sick of my PC and I know that I want to make the switch. I just to laugh but after using OS X at my work I am really falling for it. Plus I will always keep my pc and “lappie” at hand.
It’ll be funny, once Cam moves out with me… we will have 4 computers for 2 people… kind of scary. I guess those are the risks one takes when you live with a computer nerd (like me).
That is all for now…..

This week I actually did something big. Well in my lamens terms it was big. When I bought my car in July of 2003, it came with really nice looking rims. My brother constantly made fun of me about it but I liked them. However they were heavy wheels. With tires on they were about 60lbs each. That is quite heavy. Also the tires were quite wide. Very soon I came to realize that these tires/wheels is probably what made the previous owner sell his car. Well this week I did something else. I got new wheels and tires. Well (barely) used tires. I had 18 inch wheels, I downgraded this to 16 inch wheels. The weight was reduced from 60lbs per wheel to 33.25 lbs per wheel, that times four is almost close to a 120lbs. I got the mounting performed at Les Schwab and they did a terrific job. They are 50 yards away from my work (in Southcenter) so it was just a walk away. I also had my brake rotors changed. Now my car drives, handles, feels and brakes a lot nicer then ever. My car really is a smooth ride. The only thing now that has to be done is the passenger front side strut needs replacing. I guess those big wheels did more damage then one thought.
Oh and what did I do with the old ones? I put them on ebay. Since I thought they were worthless I did the starting bid at 120 (for all 4) and buy it now at $300. I guess one man’s junk is another man’s treasure because they were bought for $300 within 2 hours. Sure they are in good condition but they have only caused my car grief. The wheels and tires I now have installed are 100% compatible for my car, which is what I was going after. Also it teaches me that I shouldn’t be so cheap. But I suppose this person will be very happy. I am not ripping him off on shipping either. Charging him a $190 flat. I’ll probably lose money on it so I am going to try to ship it via my work since we get shipping discounts from UPS (high volume).
Once I actually put time and effort into my blog, I’ll have the picture gallery up and running. That will be soon and not later. Cam is working this Saturday so I guess I’ll be doing that.

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don’t believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).
Agnosticism is a philosophy that God’s existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

I don’t write many of these, one reason is because editorials only cause problems. However something has come to my attention that should be addressed.
At my work our server is backed by what we nerds call Linux, or an alternative operating system. Linux is based off of Unix and was created by Linus Trovalds. Now not to bore the nerds, but Linux is free to develop and everyone can look at the sourcecode (raw guts of a program) and tweak it. Some companies such as Linspire (formally Lindows, got sued by Microsoft for sounding too much like Windows), Red Hat (the enterprise version) and SuSe sell Linux distributions because they include a nice look and have a bunch of useful (mostly free) programs on a CD. Also when you purchase a distribution instead of downloading a free one, you get a thing called support and we all love support. However they still provide the source code and everyone with adequate knowledge can look at their code. If they use the code in their own project they must credit the original author, then it is perfectly legal.
Well my point is something that I mentioned earlier. Microsoft has a thing called CLOSED source which means that the soure code (remember… raw guts, insides, etc.) is not allowed to be seen by the general public and only by those employed by Microsoft and they will make sure that if it ever leaks that the person responsible for leaks will not be a very good situation. You are better off committing tax fraud then trying to sell Microsoft code. However there are also companies out there that are developing products based on OPEN source and making it closed source. One very great example is CherryOS. CherryOS is a platform emulator (not an OS emulator). It emulates the Mac platform so one can install an Apple operating system such as Mac OS X. Seems like a great idea… too bad that an open source project named PearPC has released a project almost a year ago that does the same thing. Sure it could be two different projects, until you start looking at the guts of CherryOS. There are many lines and references that PearPC in their project still in CherryOS. Long explaination short… CherryOS ripped off PearPC’s code and is selling it for $49.95 and is actually worse then PearPC’s code.
My point to all this. The people stealing the product have money, lawyers, etc. Opensource projects most of the time do not have funding and are merely hobbies of full time programmers (a lot of linux programmers work at IBM, Microsoft, insert company here) so when someone rips them off… they are SOL. I find that repulsive that a company would do something like that and then deny it. It is like Ted Bundy saying that he never killed anyone when the blood is literally on his hands.
Hopefully in the near future something can be done about this. Until then I hope open source projects keep getting developed. They are an asset to the community. Like I said before my work uses Linux and it has saved us a lot of money. Sure it’s not as compatible and easy to learn as say… Windows, but it is more powerful and cheaper when it is setup and ready to go. Something that can’t be said for Windows as that is completely reverse. Windows is easier to setup but you constantly have to manage and look over its shoulder to see what it is doing.
Yes a nerdy editorial but it was bugging the hell out of me.
I’m done ranting for today. I think.

Well after looking around at themes, i basically took one and changed it a little. This will be the “definite” default look of my blog. Of course soon I’ll have a skin selector up where you can change the look on the fly, but until then… this shall be it. I like the looks of it. It was either this or another (I’ll make a pic of it some day).
Anywho… things I have planned for my blog…
1. Better and new photo gallery coming soon to this blog.
2. More links… yup links to other sites just incase you get bored with this one
3. A music player where one can select their music… based on flash. I just have to finish it.
Yup that is it…. for now.
With that said… IT’S FRIDAY!!!!
Boy I needed the break. Last night I picked up Kenny *the car* for those that can’t remember. Kenny is still a little hard around the edges but the electrical problems are a thing of the past. Funny thing is that they didn’t fix until I actually got in the car. That is because it wasn’t fixed when I got in the car. Man I was heated. I guess EDI has made me more manly by not taking shit anymore from people. In the past I always let myself get touchy feely and didn’t want to hurt their feelings; well last night was a different story. I didn’t act like I wanted to beat him up or everything I just stood my ground. But my car works now. All that need to be done is new wheels and have to turn the rotors. Then Kenny will be braking smooth, driving smooth, and the driver (that’s me) can enjoy the drive.
I got my raise today at work… I get paid even more now (yay!) and I am getting a bonus for an undisclosed amount.
Alrighty… that is all I have to say right now.
Oh as a last note… I am going to the gym now as of this Wednesday. I feel all sore today but in a good way. My goal is to lose a few pounds and look fit by August. Who knows… maybe I can complete this goal.
NOW!! I am off!!

Boy I haven’t updated in a while. Right when I switch over to Wordpress, I stop updating. Hopefully I will start updating more often again. Who knows… we shall see I suppose. What I do know is that Wordpress is easier to manage but harder to customize so it is going to be awhile until I can get it the way I want it to look.
Enough about that. These past few weeks have been good. A lot has happened and probably too much to list, but who knows. But lets see… what is new… well work has been good. I have been getting a long much better with Kristy and Anna and that definitely has improved the atmosphere. I still don’t get along with Dee, and we probably never will. Her and I have major differences (for one she is a BIG conservative republican… woah almost an oxymoron but barely not) and that just will never go away. Oh well, other then that I enjoy my job. I make a few mistakes here and there but I fix and man up to them as well. Today I was honored though. A Microsoft recruiter sent me an email asking for my reply on something. Apparently they have two open positions and one actually seems fun, Perl Build Engineer is the job title.
Here is the description:
Works with development teams to build all components of a software product, including maintaining batch files and tools, to keep up with changes in the product. Sets up initial build trees, performs, debugs and fixes builds. Works closely with the members of the build team and proactively identifies and implements procedures to parallelize and streamline the build process.
I don’t know, but that seems like an okay job. My only doubts are is that this may be the beginning of something big and I really want to stay at one job for awhile to actually build experience. It isn’t very helpful when your always jumping from job to job, even though the pay for that position is $40 a hour. Then again I don’t have it yet so it is all imaginary. For the time being I am just going to go to school and enjoy that time. I still have a good year and some months left until I am done with school anyways.
Cammy and I have been spending a lot of time together, as usual. I enjoy every minute I get to spend with her. I know I am lucky compared to some people my age and I savor every minute of it. We have our minutes where we just want to bash each other in with the next hard objects but those are very rare. I finally was able to finish her stereo and we brought back the piece of crap JVC KD-AR5000, seriously the touch screen looked good but it will NEVER have the amount of customization the Pioneer unit has. For example Pioneer has a thing called EX-EQ, and Loudness…. all the JVC had was a parametric equalizer and that for a deck that goes for $400 retail. She has the Pioneer DEH-P80MP. Not to mention that I like driving her car because my own car has been going through some growing pains. It seems an electrical problem has struck my car. Hopefully that stupid warranty I got will no longer be stupid and actually fix my car. That dealership tries to classify everything as maintenance. Who knows maybe this time it will be solved.
Starting tomorrow I will be a member of 24 hour fitness. Cammy wants me to work out and I agree with her. Thankfully I have her as motivation. She shall push me to go to the fitness place. She will make sure that I’ll lose 30 lbs.
Welp that is it for now…
Stay tuned!!

Running Wordpress 1.5 as backend now. Finally someone wrote a script off of which I could edit and implement my changes correctly… here it is!!
Photo album is offline until I can find something more suitable… I didn’t like the software I was using that much anyways.
Anywho… more to come. I am glad that I finally am using Wordpress.
Yay!!

Yup you got it… Cammy is going to visit her friend, Jessie for basically about 2 days. Because we were looking for cheap and not length she arrives late Monday and leaves early Wednesday. I figure she can sleep on the airplane. She only has one lay over, so its not too bad. When she is flying to S.A. she has to change planes in Atlanta (Delta hub) and on the way to Seattle she changes planes in SLC (Skywest hub). Priceline did the booking, I just did the bidding.
Anyways… not the best of times but hey… its better then nothing and she gets to see her friend. I was going to use the money for something else first but I decided that was in the past and I am paying probably 1/2-2/3rds of her ticket. Oh well… anything to see her happy. She will have a BLAST with Jessie.
Things at work are going alright. Tomorrow I am taking a day off. Just because Dee is getting on my nerves.
Anywho…..
Later gator!!

Yup my laptop is finally going back to HP for three business days. Good thing too, it isn’t doing to great. When I get it back it’ll be good as new. I’m glad I bought that 3 year warranty on it, boy otherwise this would be a big nightmare.
Welp work is good, its almost Thursday. Only two more days left of work. Yay!

This week has been damned busy at work. Yesterday was EOM (End of Month) which means that the computer system gets shut down early in order to run all invoices through the system. This is also a prime time to do updates to the computers. So guess what I was doing… I was organizing the network on my side (Seattle). Not to special.
Damn… I really have nothing else to say…. school is going good, life is going good… yup…
